ALUMINE RIVER
Discover this unique property located in Northern Patagonia.
The rich legacy and history of Estancia Pilolil dates back to the late nineteenth century.
Boasting a massive 23,000-acre private estate, Pilolil is a working ranch located just a short drive away from the San Martin de Los Andes regional airport.
This unique family ranch owes its name to an antique local community a few kilometers downstream the Aluminé River. Pilolil means “holed stone” in the Mapuche language, a unique rock formation from the Quaternary period, with towers, caves and natural bridges, that dominates a section of the Aluminé River.
The Main House is a family house refurbished by its owner.
The Lodge offers personalized service, ensuring a fully comfortable experience to all our guests.
The house features four rooms on the upper floor, two en-suite and two with a shared bathroom, offering a comfortable living room with a fireplace, a bar and dining room where guests will share their meals.
Weather permitting, you can sit outside on the terrace and enjoy the extraordinary view of the garden, the mountains and watch the sunset, a wonderful occasion for a glass of fine Argentine wine.
The perfect place for cocktails after a fishing day
The stables have an amazing bar where guests will enjoy cocktails after a fishing day, with a fireplace where they’ll gather around while the “asado” is being prepared by one of our gauchos.
Experience fishing in one of the world's best spots.
Fly fishing in the crystal clear waters of the Aluminé River, in the Pilolil valley, is a wonderful experience for floating and wading.
As all forms of fly fishing apply, it is a program for everybody to catch a rainbow or a brown trout. The landscape is surrounded by amazing rock formations, unique vegetation and incredible wildlife.
The location is perfect for trout fishing as it is situated on the west bank of the scenic Aluminé River, which runs for over 10 miles on the ranch. With dozens of other fantastic fishing spots within easy reach, Pilolil is one of the premier fly fishing destinations in the region.
The Aluminé River is known for its fantastic hatches and dry fly fishing, while nymph and streamer fishing can also produce very large rainbow and brown trout. The river's banks are lined with willows, providing ideal habitats for both aquatic and terrestrial insects. The river's landscape is simply breathtaking, featuring panoramic views of the surrounding canyon walls.
For anglers, there are daily options for both floating in drift boats or rafts, or wade fishing the countless riffles, pools, and runs of the river. The Pilolil Lodge is perched along the banks of the Aluminé, accommodating up to 12 guests in deluxe comfort. The lodge offers excellent cuisine, fine Argentine wines, and five-star service.
