RIO GRANDE
Rio Grande Lodge is located in the heart of Tierra del Fuego island, and home to some of the best pools of the famous Rio Grande River where we fish for the largest brown trout on Planet.
Owned by Ted Turner this estancia has become one of Mr. Turner and his family’s favorite fly fishing destinations.
The lodge was designed to offer maximum comfort to host our guests during the fishing season.
The ranch relies on wind energy to provide power for every house on the property. The technology was installed in 1999 and still works as the primary power source.
4 double rooms with private bathrooms that can accommodate a maximum of 8 guests, however the Estancia is only permitted to have up to 4 rods fishing the river at once.
We limit occupancy to assure a more personal and homey atmosphere in the lodge. Our service include all food and drinks with fine malbec wines, beer and open bar.

Experience fishing in one of the world's best spots.
Skating streamers, nymphs or even dry flies into these San Jose pools are all possible ways to experience a violent fight with a monster Brown. Every year around mid-November thousands of these giant sea run trout start to return from the sea to their pools and by the end of January most of the population is on the river.
Sea run trout are very aggressive and the fight to catch them is physically tough, which is very exciting to watch even if you are not the one fishing ... but imagine being the angler!
The Rio Grande has a gravel bottom making it very easy to wade and safe for any age.
We suggest the use of spey rods (7 to 9 weight and from 12 to 15 feet long).
On windy days spey rods are more comfortable and less tiring to use. Learning to use the spey rod is very easy.
If you are new with it, our guides are expert instructors and will help you to learn quickly with the most efficient techniques.
